The Bourse Food Hall – located in one of Philadelphia’s most iconic buildings underwent a $40M transformation to bring together 30 artisanal vendors under one roof. It will rival the country’s top food hall destinations such as New York’s Chelsea Market and D.C.’s Union Market. The renovation combined historic preservation with a full restoration to the entrances on both 4th and 5th Streets and the Ranstead Street entrance, which has not opened in more than 75 years. The dining experience is elevated by the historic building’s Beaux-Arts architecture: the developer restored the original ironwork and exposed the concrete-and-mosaic floor, revealing the inlaid brass numbers that once denoted sellers’ trading desks. To top it off, the communal oak tables sit beneath a nine-story atrium that floods the space with natural light. Patrons will also enjoy lively outdoor seating and designated common areas, maximizing the space for seating, eating and drinking.
