Getting here and getting around

Philadelphia is at the center of it all. It is easy and affordable to get here. It is conveniently located in the Northeast United States, within a day’s drive of  40% of the country’s population. By train or car, Philadelphia is less than two hours from New York City and less than three hours from Washington, D.C.

In addition, the Philadelphia International Airport is the 11th busiest airport in the world and serves more than 120 cities worldwide with 1,200 daily flights, including 120 international flights. The regional public transportation system provides quick and easy access to the city from the surrounding metropolitan area.

All buses, motor coaches and tour buses are prohibited from parking on city streets.

All coaches should use one of the following bus parking facilities:

  • Campus Park and Ride on Warfield Street off Interstate 76 near 34th Street: Campus Park and Ride offers easy access to I-76. Includes showers, restrooms and a shuttle to 34th and Spruce Street. The facility is convenient to attractions such as The Franklin Institute, Philadelphia Art Museum, Rodin Museum, Academy of Natural Sciences, Please Touch Museum, Philadelphia Zoo and Penn/Drexel Campus. It also is the only RV parking facility in the city.
  • Callowhill Bus Center on Callowhill Street between Front and Second streets: The Callowhill center offers 43 secured spaces and an air-conditioned waiting area with bathrooms and showers, televisions, sleeping lounges and vending machines. Coupons and delivery from local restaurants are also available. Drivers are not able to stay in the facility overnight.

Motor coaches have an easy and efficient way to drop off and pick up groups visiting Philadelphia’s Independence National Historical Park at the Independence Transportation Center (ITC). The ITC has 11 spots for loading and unloading adjacent to the National Constitution Center.

In addition to the ITC, five drop-off and pick-up locations are provided throughout the Historic District for motor-coach groups. They are:

  • In front of the Museum of the American Revolution on Third Street, between Walnut and Chestnut Streets
  • In front of Christ Church on Second Street, between Arch and Market streets
  • In front of the Betsy Ross House on Arch Street, between Second and Third streets
  • In front of City Tavern, just north of Second and Walnut streets
  • Fifth Street, between Ranstead and Chestnut streets, for seniors and handicapped visitors only

Coaches arriving at the museums on and near the Benjamin Franklin Parkway will find designated drop-off/pick-up zones at the following locations:

Coaches are permitted to drop-off/pick-up at hotels, restaurants and attractions outside the Historic District.
