Manayunk has a distinctive look, with hills and cobblestones, canals and creeks. Author Edgar Allan Poe once called the area “one of the real Edens of the land.” For small town charm, stroll along Main Street and explore other pockets of the neighborhood during the day. At night, enjoy the bars and restaurants that draw visitors from near and far.

Main Street has more than 60 retail stores, restaurants, bars and galleries compressed in a half-mile. You’ll find hand-crafted furniture, high-end fashions, consignment clothing, jewelry and more.

Walk along the tow path. The Manayunk Canal runs parallel to Main Street on one side and the Schuylkill River on the other. Along its side is the tow-path, the trail mules once walked while pulling boats along the canal.

Eat a soft pretzel – a quintessential Philadelphia food – in Pretzel Park, the green space at 4300 Silverwood Street. Try a soft pretzel while snapping a selfie by the park’s giant silver pretzel sculpture.
